, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Chicago-based retailer Sears & Roebuck Co. will close eight of its namesake stores in what it says are underperforming locations, company officials said.

The announcement comes a day after parent Sears Holding Corp. said it was closing 13 Kmart stores, Crain's Chicago Business reported Friday.

I've worked for few large retailers in opening & closing stores - 8 stores isn't much given the size of their operation - but is part of trend -

To tell you the truth I am surprised that Sear's has made it this far with their stores.They certainly haven't turned around K-mart either.
