I was wondering if its typical to have to pay to join programs where you can use drop shippers?

A few years back I used to make cornhole games and also wanted to offer some other products that I could have drop shipped. Everywehre I looked they wanted you to pay to join club like things.

Is this typical or will a legit drop shipper take orders for free without you joining something and paying a fee?

I figured it was a scam b/c why would people want to make you pay when you are bringing them business.

Just seems like everything I look up on line charges or makes you join something so thats why I thought maybe paying was typical.

I geuss b/c drop shipping is so easy and no commitment on your part they probably have lots of people sign up or open an account and never move any product. This is probably a drain on their resources.

I worked with drop shippers from 1999 - 2003. There was a fee of $1000/month which was refunded to you as a bonus as long as you moved 3250 products that month. I just pulled up my sales and it turns out that I only missed that mark twice in those 4 years.

That being said, I think most the time the fees are small if you know how to market the products. Unfortunately that dropshipper got bought out by a large retailer and ultimately stopped offering a competitive model.
