Hi all,

I have accepted a job with an aerospace company in Melbourne. We currently live in Alabama. We live on 10 acres with 4 horses and 5 goats.

We are looking for a home with land or to buy land and build. I noticed an equestrian community called Deer Run. Any thoughts on the area?

Also, anything I should be aware of if looking at buying land to eventually build?

Thanks!

Anthony

Dear Run is a nice area just South of Palm Bay off Babcock St. Babcock to the town of Grant has a lot of big houses and lots of horses so may want to check out the general area and not just Dear Run.

Also check out land and homes in the Grant/Valkaria area. Lots of horses in that area too.

One thing to be aware of when finding land is flooding. Check past records to see if the area has flooded. I know Dear Run has had some areas that flooded pretty badly. Same for areas in Grant/Valkaria so our friends have vehicles that are raised so they can get back out to the main road at times. After hurricanes 10-20 inches of rain is not unusual so you need to plan for the what if of that.

I really appreciate the response. It seems land that is "high and dry" is rather difficult to find in the area. We are a little worried about that challenge. I also see land in a town called St. Cloud that is 45 minutes to the West.
