My family is currently living in Kansas City and possibly moving to the Boulder area. One of the things that I am looking into is the area schools. We have young children that have not yet started school but will be within the next year.

One area that my husband and I have looked into is the Broomfield area. From what I understand the schools in that area are covered by different districts. So, I would like to know the differences in the districts and what the pros and cons are of both.

Please see this post on the Denver forum: "Best Schools" in Denver area. I understand people's concerns about schools, but there is no reason to agonize over this. Pick a house you like; it will be in a good school district.

look up the controversys concerning Boulder highschool, gives you a good idea on what they are teaching your kids.

Rocky Mountain News - Denver and Colorado's reliable source for breaking news, sports and entertainment: Local (http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_5539466,00.html - broken link)

WorldNetDaily: 'Have sex, do drugs,' speaker tells students

there are some sound clips, and a full audio clip of the assembly that was held there. There have been several teacher led anti war demonstrations, and things of that sort.

My feelings are that kids should be in school learning the basics, not out galavanting around the town when they should be learning history, math, geography and such

I read the entire transcript and it wasn't as bad as it sounds. The superintendent did make some changes in policy b/c of the controversy. And it's only one high school in the district. Adams 12 had a controversy over the yearbook at Legacy High last year. You can't avoid it in any district.

No, it was not a school board thing. It was a decision by some teachers to require kids to attend a panel of the Conference on World Affairs. The school board had nothing to do with it, didn't know anything until the controversy erupted. The Conference on World Affairs is a CU production. The Legacy yearbook issue was not a controversy until the principal decided some pages were inappropriate. That is when it became a controversy.
