Hey all,

I'll be moving up to the area in early July and being a recent college grad I will be living on my own for the first time. Our apartment in college was furnished and as a result I have little furniture. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for places to check out to buy furniture. As a recent grad I won't have a ton of money or anything so the top of the line stuff is out of the question but I would like to buy some things that are nice and I can have for awhile. I'm looking for a bedroom and living room set as well as a kitchen table. I will explore craigslist but was hoping to get new stuff since I plan on having it for awhile and a whole set would be nice. For reference, I am unsure where exactly I will be living but it should be somewhere between Waltham and Marlborough. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I recommend Rotman's and Jordan's. The quality at Bob's and Bernie & Phyl's is not that good.

There are several furniture outlets in Gardner :http://www.gardneroutlets.com/

Otherwise, Jordan's furniture is most likely your best bet. They have an outlet in the Avon store, but they won't deliver any outlet furniture so you need access to a truck.

Also check consignment shops and check the local newspapers for "moving sales".

Talking I'm cheap...

Try Costco, BJ Wholesale or Jordans for mattress. [$200-1000+] If you want cheaper mattress. I'm sure there are student specials on Moody street Waltham.

Costco also has sturdy plastic folding chair ($25) and table ($50). Perfect for recent grads who move around. [total $150 - table + 4 chairs]

Bookcase... stacked paper boxes[free] or Walmart/Target/Homedepot for crates/shelves/cheap bookcase. [$20-$60]

Default Furniture Stores in the Boston area

Donahue's Furniture in Burlington has nice furniture of all price ranges. The sales staff isn't high pressure. We purchased a livingroom and bedroom of top quality. Our sales woman explained the construction and when we compared it to the stores we had already shopped, purchasing from Donahue's was the only logical choice.

Yeah, Ikea is in Stoughton. If you have a vehicle, it's definitely worth the trip.
