Would like to stay in a higher end hotel. Any ideas.. I was lookign at the Hyatt Regency, Boston Park Plaza, Charles Mark and Liberty. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Both Back Bay and Theater District have a good handful of bars and nightclubs. The Fenway area near Fenway Park is also teeming with nightlife. Lansdowne Street is the street you would want to head to if you are over there. Cambridge, across the Charles River also has several bars, pubs, upscale restaurants, and a nightclub or two.

The Park Plaza Hotel is pretty upscale and convenient as it is right next to the Theater District. The Westin Hotel, the Copley Place Hotel, and the Four Seasons Hotel are also upscale and very pleasant. If you like old style places, the Locker-Ober Hotel might be suitable for you.

You should be generally safe in all places as long as you have common sense and stay in well lit areas or with friendly crowds late at night. You are coming to a big city and so take precautions, don't talk to creepy strangers, and don't walk in dark alleyways even if they offer a shortcut to where you're going. I hope you have fun as this city has a lot to offer.

I agree with Urban Peasant although my personal favorites is either the Theatre District or Back Bay. Theatre District is where alot of the clubs/bars are including: Gypsy Bar, Club Suite, The Estate, Mantra, Caprice/Under Bar, Liquor Store, Pearl and a whole range of others. There are also many restaurants around, a movie theatre, the Boston Common park, and Chinatown nearby if you're looking for some dimsum after a long night out
The Back Bay is in close proximity with the Theatre District, and that's where many of the restaurants and popular shopping destination are. (Copley Square, Prudential Center, and Newbury Street).
