Hi,

I am currently considering a move to cambridge, where I will be commuting from there (near Lechmere/Cambridgeside Galleria) to Newton. I would be taking the pike west to where I work, BC Law School on Centre St. in Newton.

My question is, how is the traffic on the pike between newton and cambridge, does anyone know on average how the pike is between 8 and 10am, and on the way back to boston around 5pm?

Any information on the Cambridge-->Newton commute would be great.

Thank you.

You'll be traveling away from most of the traffic, lucky you! A half-hour should be ample time to allow.
And, if winter storms get harsh but not harsh enough to cause school/work closings, you can take the Green Line's D trolley (switch cars at Government Center.)

To add to the discussion, I used to occasionally drive from Kendall Square to Connecticut, leaving around 7:30 taking the turnpike. The traffic was backed up once in the 20 or so times I did it but was usually pretty fast.

i used to commute from Mem drive (but closer to trader joes) to BCLaw and it would take about 20 minutes. The circle of death where the pike ramp in Newton is was the worst part. I also had plenty of back routes I knew liking talking storrow and cutting through brighton

Not surprising!

A good idea. Washington St. in Brighton gets a little backed up in the late afternoon but in the AM the streets should flow pretty smoothly.
