lol. I again think it depends on the neighborhood.

What do you think is wrong about Dorchester for young adults starting out? Where should they live? Not everyone is a trust fund baby or necessarily wants to spend the majority of their paycheck on rent.

No kidding! These are the circumstances of two sets-of-three 2023 graduates of my acquaintance:

NYC: paying $4K for a tiny 2.5 bedroom East Village shoebox (one sleeps in the living room)

Dorchester: paying just under $3K for a 3BR, washer/dryer, dishwasher, decks, a really nice apartment I’d like to live in.

I’m thrilled they found such a great place to live!

You aren't familiar with the area. The apartment may be nice, but Dorchester is the ghetto.

That's not Dorchester. It's South Boston.

If "Dorchester" tout court "is the ghetto", there would be many other major American cities envious that that is Boston's ghetto.

Sounds like you're the one who isn't familiar with the area. There are parts of Dot that you couldn't even touch my friend.

Apples and oranges. Dorchester is not comparable to the "East Village". It's the equivalent of the Bronx or Queens.
