If I move I would be working in the Financial District. What are the best places to live for convenience as well as on a budget. I will be working long hours and don't need anything over the top nice. I am more worried about the price and convenience, roommates are fine as well. Thank you in advance...

If you're really thinking mainly of keeping down the living costs, one area that comes to mind is Quincy. You wouldn't need a car for commuting, because you could take the red line to the Fin. District. Quincy is a small city, with all the basic stuff you need for everyday living.

I'd also suggest Dorchester as a possibility. Gets a little tricky there because Dorchester has some nice neighborhoods and some bad neighborhoods, so you want to make sure you're in the right area. Personally, I don't know Dorchester well enough to make many recommendations, though I have repeatedly heard that a neighborhood you want to avoid is Upham's Corner. The right neighborhood in Dorchester will be reasonably safe and pleasant, relatively inexpensive (by Bostons standards), and fairly close to the Fin. Distirct in terms of commuting time.
