I have always loved Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, and Christopher Moore however I am running out of titles by those authors. Does anyone have any recommendations for other humorous authors they have enjoyed? It doesn't have to be Science Fiction/Fantasy.
I particularly liked " Expecting someone taller", "Who's afraid of Beowulf", "Ye Gods", "Odds and Gods", "Flying Dutch", "Faust among Equals", "GrailBlazers" and "Paint your Dragon".
Not as clever as Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett but still funny in a very British way.
I absolutely ADORE Terry Prachett. I owe the man so much as his books help me get through chemo therapy. Sadly there may not be too many more books. He has Alzhiemers now. I cried when I read that on his web page. He's fighting it for all he's worth but my heart goes out to him. I have some paperback duplicate copies of a couple of his books. I would be willing to trade for two that I don't have if anyone is interested. The books are in good condition.
You have to read The Adventures of Princess Lau. It is the funniest book ever! Dragons, (6 inches high!), Chick Norris, a Chinese Princess and cows. This book made me laugh out loud so often. And when I wasn't laughing, I was being constantly delighted by the cleverness and subtle misdirection of my expectations. Seriously, this book is hilarious. Check out the website: Home
There's also a great sci-fi comedy book called The Known Universe: Lost Earth. It's something down the Adams/Naylor alley, I'd say. Oh, and the greatest book trailer on their website The Known Universe: Lost Earth
Most of the s.f. humor I've read has been short stories, not novels - like Zelazny's Unicorn Variations. And there are some anthologies around. Does that help?
Definitely look for the Stainless Steel Rat series by Harry Harrison.
I've never been a fan of novels set in the Star Trek universe, but I made an exception for the novel Q-in-law. A romance between Luxwanna and Q? Priceless!!!
