My Favorite classics are below (in no particular order)...it was so difficult to narrow down to 5...
Jane Eyre- Chrolette Bronte
Pride and Prejudice-Jane Austin
Rebecca- Daphne DuMaurier (Early 1900 I think)
Wuthering Heights- Emily Brontë'
The Secret Garden- Frances Hodgson Burnett
All Shakespears works
Too hard to narrow to just 5, but (please note, I am a HUGE fan of "Twain") I'd have to put "Huck Finn" ahead of "Tom Sawyer". Sawyer was written more as a piece of entertainment while "Huck" while it started that way turned into so much more. While Sawyer is indeed a great book, "Huck" has much more long-term significance. The long time required for Twain to complete it, the struggles he went through and the fact that some consider it to contain the most important sentence in American literature all contribute to its greatness.
I could maybe do a top 30, but to get down to 5, no way.
Anna Karenina
Jane Eyre
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (not 100+?)
I should read Huck Finn!
