Hi everyone. I've lived in UT a few yrs and am hoping to be moving to Boise area. My oldest is pretty sure she wants to go to Boise State, so we need residency for 1 yr before to apply. And before she said that, I was already leaning towards Idaho for my kids & I to move to anyway. So I was very excited when she said that! So, I'm very hopeful right now. My kids & I really need this fresh new start together, so what a blessing this would be.

I LOVE how it's a more conservative, family-oriented area, which makes me feel better about being in an area like that right now. And LOTS of stuff to do!

I've been researching a lot and see you have great nondenominational & Baptist church choices in Boise. Yeah! While I'm a little open to where to live, I'm most curious about West Boise maybe within like a 10-15min drive from the I-184 Boise Town Square area, without too long a drive to Boise State. I'm really hoping to have NATURE views/nature setting. Not much for big city life, but like to be near Walmart, Kohls, restaurants, parks, etc. Is that area very safe? I mean could we safely walk around w/pretty much no worries? Or would we need to be a little further west or north? Is it best to stay NORTH of I-84/184? BTW, where does the area "WEST BOISE" actually start?

I home school, but always like to know if the school system is great in the area (for Jr. High & High School only). So any help with that would be great.

Thx a lot you all for any answers you can give me! I really hope & pray this works out sometime this year.

If "conservative" is what you're looking for, you better stay clear of the North End. You'll probably do well in Meridian. We are pretty liberal and live in what is considered West Boise. Our neighborhood has a good mix of conservatives/liberals and we all get along fine.

By the way--do you already have a job lined up? Employment is really hard to come by around here.

In general I would call west Boise anything north of Fairview, west of Cole, east of Eagle Road and south of Chinden. There is also the west Boise Bench neighborhood north of Fairview and east of Orchard that is pretty cool if you want an older house. Most of the neighborhoods in the west Bench are 50's ranches and ramblers with big lots with a lot of potential for doing a Modern or Retro rehab on them.

Thumbs up Thx :)

Thx grmi66 for your post. That's exactly what I was trying to figure out, so I could see on a map. That was so helpful!

I'm looking at apt complexes for my kids & I and have seen some there and in Meridian area. I really like Meridian now that I've seen some videos, too.
City of Meridian - Home
I liked the 1st video & the Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park one "Meridian's newest park coming in 2011"
