I believe there is a group that exists, they get together and do field trips and the like. My son is 6, and I would like to get him involved with other children. Any information would be great!

I did the home school thing briefly. I put an ad in the local paper and the response was phenomenal (this was on Kauai).
I met many Johovah Witness but they did not include saving us non-Jahovah Witness's during any outings we did together.
There were so many excursions and outings with the other homeschoolers it was hard to keep up.
I hope you find the support you need as you must know that many people will criticize you for home schooling (BTW; it is perfectly legal).
I believe the kids are encouraged to take profiency tests equivalent to grade every 2 years here in Hawaii but I don't know if things have changed as that is according to which state you're in and what the end goal is.

Thanks. The public schools here are horrible (for the most part), and I don't yet know if we can afford private school. There are actually a lot on this island that home-school, and I haven't heard anything bad at all. Its pretty common here to homeschool.
