kerr is winning COTY without a doubt barring a 2nd half crash this season
If Coach Budenholzer keeps up what he is doing, I can't see Kerr winning. I mean he took over a 50+ wins team. I'm not taking anything away from him, but Budenholzer's impact is more dramatic (and yes you can attribute some of their success to staying healthy compared to last year).

And playing in the Eastern Conference.
It's always nice to be able to routinely beat up on Milwaukee, Detroit, and New York as opposed to Houston, Portland, and Dallas.
At this point, there had better be a really compelling reason why anyone from the East wins any award over anyone from the West.

GS started higher than Atlanta based on last season, but they are putting up more wins in a MUCH harder schedule.
Atlanta has had more new pieces and guys returned from injury though.
Toss-up IMO but if you do something "historic" like crack 70 wins, then that's got some "wow factor".
That will be a discussion ender for some voters.

I agree with this. I actually think COY is Budenholzer's to lose at this point.

By your logic, then it's impossible for a Eastern conference coach to win the award given the league's construct.
I don't know if that's a fair argument to make. At the end of the day, you still have to win the games. If they lost against western conference teams, then I think you have a valid case, but they are 10-2 versus the Western Conference. They are not just bottom feeding they are beating good teams. You can't fault them for beating who's on their schedule. And with that said, there are more quality teams in the East this year then there have been in years. You have 5 teams that have a legitimate shot at winning the East. The East isn't as easy as years past and they are dominating more than these previous super teams like Miami and Boston.

In the next few weeks, they'll play OKC, Golden State, Portland, and Memphis. It's worth re-evaluating when we get to that point. Golden State has played Houston twice in a week and a half and beat them both times by a combined 700 points. I simply think Golden State plays a tougher schedule week in and week out and that that's worth something, but I will agree that Atlanta is awfully impressive.
