Ahhh, if the Giants win it all just enjoy all of the odd sideline stories (if they don't win it, the irony will be off the charts):

- A starting pitcher in Vogelsong who they signed off the scrap heap, at age 33

- A jouneyman infielder in Scutaro who became one of their star players the last couple of months and in the playoffs

- A left fielder in Blanco who is a minor league journey man wasn't in the majors last year, and barely hit at the Mendoza line at AAA last year

- A short stop in Crawford who hit very poorly in the upper minors and generally was considered to be a bit of a bust as a prospect

- A first baseman in Belt who hit only 7 HRs in 411 ABs

- A starting pitcher in Lincecum who won 2 Cy Young Awards now going 10-15 with a 5.18 ERA

- A team that lost their best hitter in Cabrera just after mid season

- A team that lost their All Star closer in Wilson after only a couple of weeks into the season

- A team with the fewest HRs, by far, in all of baseball this season

NewToCA...

You have overlooked what will be the most enjoyable aspect of the Giants prevailing. Every single post victory and off season story about the Giants will feature, within the first three paragraphs, something about the Dodgers enormous spending spree and how "..despite this....etc"

Giants are three outs away from the championship.

Is anyone watching?

It's over - good job Giants.

Cabrera didn't even get his bat off his shoulder - called strike - wow!

I just wanted to be the first in print...now I can claim the 500 writers and reporters who will be mentioning this are stealing my idea.

LOl - good job.

I wanted to be the first to post on CD about the World Series in appropriate threads on CD forum after the final pitch - and I was - in both this thread and on the San Francisco-Oakland Forum.

I'm not even a Giants fan.

But a sweep of the World Series, two shutouts, and an extra innings win is impressive.
