Has recent crime in Brooklyn Park area gotten better or is it still bad? Looked at new homes on the south side near Cedar Lane Cemetery closer to Ferndale and Glen Burnie area and am not sure about the safety aspect. Thanks

That new development on the east side of Ritchie Hwy. between Cedar Hill Lane and the Beltway will probably be good when it gets some residents.

The neighborhood east of Ritchie Hwy. between Seward Ave. and Walton Ave. is good, and if you continue east on Church St., the neighborhood south of Church St. is OK, until you get to the city line between 6th St. and Virginia Ave. East of that, you're getting into Curtis Bay, which has a few good blocks at the top of the hill near the water tank (I lived on one of them for 30 years, moved a year ago.), but isn't generally the best place around.

West of Ritchie Hwy. between Hammonds Lane and Holy Cross Rd. is OK.

West of Ritchie Hwy. between 1st Ave. and 18th Ave. is OK, and the area just north of the track at Brooklyn Park Middle School that is accessible from Washington Ave. is pretty good.

All that said, you are advised to NOT walk along Ritchie Hwy. at 2:00 AM.
