Any concerns about living in a city so close to a federal bio research facility? The U.S. Army conducts research in a very classified environment there.

I live in Bel Air, which is not too far from Aberdeen Proving Ground and APG Edgewood Area (formerly known as Edgewood Arsenal). Although they're not as heavy on the biohazard stuff as Fort Dietrick out west, there is some hazardous activity going on in these places too. I've grown up in this area and my father retired from EA. Short of a little mustard gas exposure (vert minor) for him, my family and I have never had any issues with these facilities.

Oh, I also grew up 8 miles from Peach Bottom Nuclear Power Plant. I think that's more dangerous - found over 100 four, five, six-leaf clovers in our yard and also mutant dandelions and buttercups in our field. Coincidence?

Crime and drugs are much more pressing concerns to living the Baltimore metro area.

As far as I can remember the only thing that ever got out locally was the anthrax that got into the envelopes sent to congressmen- and the scientist or whomever smuggled it out. I don't know why names are escaping me...
Help, someone??

And, mdtoaz, the Peach Bottom thing really freaked me out. Maybe that would be ONE place not to live, OK? Thought if you look up Essex- I'm right across the river from a wastewater treatment plant, and my map of hazmat and air release is lit up like a Christmas tree...ewww.
