In 2006 I bought a base Yaris which did not include a radio. It did, however, have wiring, speakers, and an antenna.

Thanks everyone. I was referring to buying a car that already comes without a radio; I never considered buying a car and deleting the radio option, since indeed that would be expensive.
Off the top of my mind, the Versa can come without a radio but with A/C, not sure about the rest anymore.

I often wondered why auto makers don't start making contracts with decent stereo companies like Sony, Pioneer, or Kenwood for example. Seems only the high end models get aftermarket brand stereos. What's frustrating to music fans is many modern cars have a sculpted and shaped dash with a stereo made to flow with that shape. If you choose to replace the stereo with an aftermarket model, good luck on getting a good adaptor face plate to flow with those curvy lines. Wish all factory stereos were still rectangle in shape to make it easy to replace. Most factory stereos are very good,...it's the cheap speakers that suck. When I buy a car, first thing I do is replace the factory speakers. Everytime I see the factory speakers I have to wonder if there was a cheaper piece of paper they could have made the cones from. I don't care about volume. I have partial hearing loss due to multiple ear surgeries and working in the engine room of a Navy ship. What I want from my stereo is clarity. The better the clarity, the less I have to raise the volume.

Ford Europe use Sony, Mazda has Bose stereos, don't remember what BMW use, but their stereos are great, if you get the slightly upgraded one, so who cares, Lexus also use Bose i think, as well as some Mercs, but I think they're moving towards a different one now.

There's plenty cars brands who use proper stereo makers, and if you take a closer look at the built in models without any insignias, many of them will have a sticker at the back with "Made by Pioneer/Sony/Lg/Alpine" so on and so forth.

My question is still this though, to the OP: Why do you want one without a stereo, if you're going to install one anyway?
