of the redesigned 69 Fury? It was the first fuselage Fury. I have an article from 12/2001 from Collectible Auto magazine that devotes an article to the fuselages from 69-73 and they specifically talk about how the 69 Furies were first perceived by the public and automakers
I wonder what you all think of them before i tell you what was said about them
I have Collectible Auto mag from 12/2001 in front of me:
words of a Dodge exec:
"I always thought the plymouth guys across the hall had designed a car without a theme, the 69 Plymouth emerged as one of those insurance company ad cars, a car so non descript it could have been used in a State Farm ad in the Saturday Evening Post without anyone's guessing the make...bland and colorless..."
Despite the fact that I am a big Mopar fan, I would have to agree with the above. I never liked the 69 Fury. My neighbor, when i was 10 and had my " 72-73 Fury crush" moved in with a green 69 Fury III and i thought it was so ugly, inside was so tacky and oddly the ignition switch was on the left side of the steering column. But it seems to me at least by 71 the Fury was looking better. of course, my faves were the 72 and 73 Furies.
I like them. Big, roomy and comfortable. They looked like what full-sized cars should look like (not like the "full-sized" cars of today).
And you could buy a '69 and '70 Fury with a 440-6 bbl engine!
