Moving meat is their job. Jacking up the profits via captive (their) financing is the finance shark's job.
Certainly they can sell that car if the CU money is there. You might want to move up the chain of command.
Care salesmen are about as honest as politicians, and about as respected in survey after survey, year after year, decade after decade.
I've been buying cars annually for 20 years, been there done that.
Occasionally you will meet an honest one, that is typically a long search or a lucky break.

Frankly this chain sounds like there are serious problems all over. It's nice that the bossman sent you an email.
I would look for another dealership outside of this chain. Everyone sounds like they're full of BS and excuses.
There ARE dealerships that want to sell cars. There ARE salesmen who aren't complete A-holes. There are finance people who aren't crooks or con artists. I'm sure there are. I don't think I've met them yet, though. Good luck.
