I received a phone call last night about 8 pm from a "private" number (that's what the caller ID showed on my phone). The recording said that this was a call about a change to the warranty on my vehicle (and that they had been trying to reach me), and I had 2 choices: option 1 was to speak to a representative about this matter, and option 2 was to close this file. So I pressed #1, and a live person came on the line and said very rapidly, "What is your vehicle make and ID number?" I asked who was calling and they quickly hung up.
This sounded like a scam call, trying to get vehicle ID numbers, though I'm not sure why. Any thoughts?
I have to laugh because a friend of mine gets the same calls, and the post cards in the mail. They always state the urgency of the warranty on the car she's driving is about to expire, and/or the change to warranty calls. The funny thing is that she lives on a little island known as Manhattan and doesn't own a car.
I have gotten the warranty expiration cards, but have yet to get the calls.
