You can use it, the 10w30 is a little thicker oil than the 5w30. If 5w30 is recommended by MFG'er for your vehicle I would ask that they use 5w30 at your next oil change.

I was using the 5w30 because it was recommended at oil change place since I have high mileage but the latest oil change place recommended 10w 30 .
Thanks for your tip I hate to let the oil I have in stock go to waste.

Now Im confuse which is better for high mileage in mild carolina climate

If the manual calls for 5w30, and the car is not burning a lot of it, seems to me you might as well stick with the 5w30.

I doubt a used oil analysis lab would be able to tell if you put a half-quart of 5w30 into 4.5 quarts of 10w30 from the same maker.

Yes you can mix. I also mix synthetic with natural oil on occasion.

As M3 Mitch said, if your car is not burning a lot of oil I would stick with the Castrol 5w30. I do my own oil changes and have been a loyal user of Castrol GTX oil for over 20 years now. I've used it in Florida in the high heat and up north in the cold winters. I sold a chevy pick-up this summer with a V6 engine had 210,000 miles on it and still going strong, I used 5w30 castrol in it.

Yes you can mix it. Try to avoid mixing brands if possible
