My husband and I are in the market for a vehicle seating eight or more, preferably 12. What is your favorite make/model/year in this categorically. I have done some research online, but it's hard to find any kind of comparisons of this particular category. At the moment I'm leaning toward the Ford E-series. Any thoughts?

The E-350 is a nice van I have rented several. But whatever you buy DO NOT buy the Dodge Sprinter passenger van made by Mercedes Benz. I owned 3 of their cargo versions and they were unreliable money pits. The only good thing was they made 25-28m.p.g. and diesal. Now you can get a gas version. .

Are you looking to buy classic, used (1-15 years old) or brand new?

Nothing beats a Big Ole Suburban, sevenboyds.

Solid, dependable and, if properly maintained, will last for decades.

How about a traditional American 9-passenger station stationwagon from the 1950s-1990s.

Starting in 1965 thru 1991 the Ford Country Squires would hold 10 passengers. I think the rear cargo seats were only meant for 2 people though, (only 2 seat belts), but I think you can get 2 on each seat. Install your own belts.

New or used, less than about 50k miles though. Prefer less than 30k, but what I really want is a good deal. We have five kids now and will probably have more, so a twelve passenger would last us longer. An eight would only let us have one more with no room to pick anyone up from the airport, ya know?

I have a friend who has a Sprinter, is it just a certain year that's crummy? or is it the whole breed?

LOL! Growing up I knew a family that had one of these! It would work great for tooling around town if I could find one, but I don't know that my kids would like it so much on a road trip (my parents live about ten hours away).
