I was around in that era, watched them race, had the Hot Wheels, loved Drag Racing.. I do not go to "professional" Drag racing and haven't for years.. Too much same old same old.. Cars all look the same, not much action, just a quick shoot down the strip, the personalities not there anymore....
I used to like seeing Jungle Jim Liberman at a night match race doing gasoline burnouts before they were banned. Jungle Pam wasn't too shabby either.
My all time favorite has to be Sammy Miller and his rocket car Vanishing Point, if I hadn't seen it live but only on film I would've sworn they'd speeded up the film, I still wonder if they somehow figured out how to speed up reality.
