Pretty soon I'll need to start shopping for a car for my wife. All the cars she has used have had a feature where the lights turn on and off automatically. My Honda does not do this & it irritates her. She said she would like this feature for her car.
So what cars have this feature? I know most newer General Motors cars do because those are the cars she drove growing up.
Buicks have automatic headlights and daytime running lights. Also have automatic wipers. The first vehicle I had with automatic headlights was a mid 90's Buick Lesabre. I believe some of them come with remote starting capability as well.
On some cars, it's part of an options package that you need to order. A base model might not have it unless you order a premium package or something like that.
I don't see the big deal with them. You just flip a knob. I have em on my car and half the time I override the damn thing because they flick on and off under every overpass or shady tree.
My 2010 Honda Insight doesn't have this feature. The 2005 focus ST I used to own didn't either. The Civic is another car I'm considering and it doesn't as well. I'm not sure about the 2007 Mazda 3, which is another car I'm considering. Autotrader and Cars.com do not indicate this feature when I compare cars, so it's hard to know.
I have a 2014 Civic Ex and it has auto headlights.
I have that feature but don't use it because I park in a garage. That means the headlight turns on when I start the car in the garage. Than it instantly turns off 10 seconds later when I back out. Same for when driving under highway overpasses.
I'm sure it's my archaic way of thinking but with HID headlights it isn't the best thing to be quickly turning on and off like that. Will shorten the lifespan of the bulb.
