Someone keyed my minivan today (really bad, down to the metal about 7 inches long) and I honestly don't have the slightest clue why someone would do that

I work in a large office complex with about 90% vacancy rate. There is tons of parking every day because only a handful of people work there. The company I work for shares the building with 4 other small companies, most of which are just field offices with 2-3 employees. I rarely see anyone in the elevators or in the parking garages. I park in the same spot I have always parked in for the past year. I am in a position where I do not have much interaction with staff at my own company, and I think I am liked by those who know me...but even those who know me don't know what car I have. Also, depending on which days I have to pick up the kids I alternate between my sedan and the minivan, so there isn't even any consistency on someone singling me out because I switch cars during the week. I am the only one who parks there who has the make and model and color minivan, so it couldn't have been confused with someone else which leads me to believe this was a random keying

My van has about 147,000 miles on it and it is far from mint condition, but still why would someone key a random car? or if it wasn't random I have no idea who would hate me enough to do that

I agree with Cats, GoodSchoolols . . .

Unfortunately, there are lots of a**holes out there so unless you were parked in two spots or something similar . . . it probably was not personal.

Some people are just antisocial a-holes and there's no point in trying to read any deeper into their motivations.

Having at least one of my cars vandalized has become practically an annual event, from keying to having side mirrors broken off to a shattered windshield to being tagged to having one of 'em outright stolen. I've basically come to accept it as part of life around here.

Talk to security. Cameras are everywhere. You might have accidentally parked in "this is my lot" place. People are that way. I have been parking in same spot at work for 1 1/2 year, until some Nissan started beating me to it. Not to say that I did not have "ideas". We are that way. She's gone anyway now.

Was your car the only one keyed? Chances are other cars got keyed too, then you'd at least know it wasn't personal.

With all the empty parking spots, did you park right next to another car?
