Penetrating oils ........... Average torque load to loosen

No Oil used ...................516 pounds
WD-40 ..................... ... 238 pounds
PB Blaster .................... 214 pounds
Liquid Wrench ...............127 pounds
Kano Kroil .................... 106 pounds
ATF*-Acetone mix............53 pounds*ATF=Automatic Transmission Fluid
I think I have what qualifies as a "scientifically rusted" environment

That chart is very helpful as I was considering getting some PB blaster but it doesn't look like it is much better than WD-40.

^Which makes the bolt brittle and increases the chances it will just twist off.

You heat the area around it.

If I'm getting the gas ax out I'd just cut if off.

Like diesel and atf the fluid will wick up the steel.
steel is porous.

Don't waste time. Save $$ and buy something that will REALLY help.

It's called GripTite. I own one and it DOES work. Also, 12 point sockets do work well. If you strip that head with ill fitting socket, THEN you are in trouble.

Addendum

GripTite is both SAE and metric. Now, those prongs inside move a little. Match a socket that will fit with largest effort possible. I used to hammer some onto a stubborn bolt. They are lifetime, so who cares. But if you get it on THAT tight, it WILL stay on the head for sure.

Oh, of course... You sure it's not LEFT threads?

If you can remove the part it is affixed to, you can take it to a machine shop and they will remove it for less than $20

Sometimes you need to soak and soak and soak it. Each time you soak it tap it with a hammer every now and then to set up some vibration.

One time the solution that worked for me was a 12 point socket and a long breaker bar. The bar was positioned so that if I lowered the jack, the weight of the car push the breaker bar forward. That will either break the bolt or break it free.

This is surprising to me. A lot of people, myself included, seem to have plenty of anecdotal evidence that PB Blaster is much better for breaking rusted bolts free.

I'm going to have to try the ATF/Acetone mix
