even the hard to screw tiniest screws in the key fob?? do they charge less than if i were to bring it in to Honda?
I can't speak for the labor rates in your area's locksmith shops, but in my region of the country many will replace the battery in a key fob for a nominal shop service fee ($5, or some comparable type shop "minimum" charge). Some do it for no labor charge at all, but do charge more for the battery than you'd buy it at Radio Shack or an auto parts store.
In any event, it's worth your time to call around the local locksmith shops and find out what they'd charge to replace the fob battery. My bet is that it would be substantially less than the dealership.
i think i'm just going to dremel cut it a bit when i get home, if successful I'll use the tinist flat head screwdriver to unscrew the stupid screw.
not a wise choice... those itty bitty screws hold the whole thing together... you cut it wrong and you're buying a new housing for you fob or scotch-taping that thing forever.
We have stores here (batteries plus) who sell nothing but batteries. They take the fob, open it, and replace the batteries, close it, and hand it back.

My brother says the Parts Counter guy at Dealers can do it too.
