Though this may be off-topic I am posting it here...I put some stickers on my truck (to the rear glass window) that I need to get off, it's been a few years and when I try to get them off they just chip so they are stuck solid...any ideas on what I can use to get them off easily?
Heat gun works well. A single edge razor blade but you have to be careful to not let it cut the glass. Happens if you are not holding firm and the blade turns to a 90 degree to the glass.
MEK will certainly work but be damn sure to keep it off paint and rubber gasktets.
Another option would be 3M brand adhesive removal solvent, available at any auto body supply store (some auto parts stores sell paint supplies as well, or you may find an auto body supply store standing alone in your town)
If you are patient, a high-pressure car wash will eventually peel the stickers off.
Used carefully and patiently, a single edge razor blade type scraper will get the stickers off, but emphasis on careful use, don't run over into the window rubber gasket or the paint.
Yeah, if you use MEK be sure you understand how to use it safely, you don't want to get it on your skin. Read the MSDS. If you don't know what an MSDS is, don't mess with MEK till you find out.
LOL where can you even get MEK over the counter? Do they sell it at home depot?
WD40, is 15% mineral oil, 50% stoddard solvent, and various other things.
Its a mild solvent but also "wets" the dried out sticker, and help lubricate the razor.
