Which car brand offers the best warranty? I just thought of this today because I think from a sign I saw that Honda is 3 years 36,000? I don't know if that's powertrain, but that seems awfully short if so. I know they offer Honda Care, but I'm not sure how much that costs. I know Hyundai was offering some great warranties, but I heard their were some catch 22s. I think Silverado is 100,000 miles. That's about the extent of my knowledge on it though. So I ask the much-informed C-D Automotive forum, what brands offer the best warranty, once all the fine print is read?

Dunno, maybe because I don't want to go searching 16 brand websites and search for each of their cars for something I'm merely curious about

bmw includes everything (even brakes) for 4yrs/50,000 which can be extended to 6yrs/100,000 for about 2 grand. Ones of the best in the industry I believe.

Depends what you think is best. Hyundai, Kia, and Mitsubishi have very long bumper to bumper, and powertrain warranties.

My Volvo came with a 5/60 bumper to bumper, including all maintenance and wear items.

3/36 has been the run of the mill standard for a long time.

Not just based on length of time but also service, what's covered and ease of dealing with them...

I think the best and most comprehensive warranties out right now are BMW and Volvo. In terms of regular brands that don't have all the added maintenance, I think GM and in particular Buick and Cadillac have very good warranties. Chryslers warranty is the same as GM's, but carries a lot of exclusions. Hyundai/Kia gives you the most time and miles, but have the strictest exclusions and limitations.

A lot of it to will come down to how long you plan to keep the car and how much you drive. If you look at the comparison list posted, you'll see that some offer more years, but less miles while others offer less years and more miles. If you are someone who doesn't drive a lot, but tends to hand onto their car, you want more years and less miles. If you drive a lot and don't tend to keep cars for more than 4 or 5 years, you need a warranty with a high mileage allowance.

Regardless of what they offer upfront, all manufacturers offer more comprehensive warranty and service plans if you want them. You can buy the best warranty in the world from any manufacturer if you really want it.
