HONDA uses a V-5 configuration in its MotoGP bikes quite successfully.
by the way, there are also V10's, V12's, and even V16's by a few manufacturers. in addition ferrari made a flat 12. bmw had a flat 2, there have been a few flat fours and flat sixes, and as i recall a flat 8 as well.
My dad had a straight 8 Buick, 1951. It had a 3 speed column shifter and was fast.
