DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Richard Petty spent the last three months thinking the No. 44 Dodge would have a guaranteed spot in the Daytona 500.

He found out last week the car would have to race its way in.

On wrong side of dealing, Petty no fan of NASCAR point swaps (http://www.thatsracin.com/news/story/22072.html - broken link)

Business as usual. This is just as poor as changing the Shootout to allow equal brands representation instead of putting in the drivers that DESERVE to be in the race.

Personally, I think it should be you have to qualify. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. If you're the points leader and you don't qualify, see ya next week.

You'd think that NASCAR would figure out that as of lately most of their new ideas have been total failures!! Sadly, it seems like they are digging that hole they are in deeper and deeper!!

News, Kyle Petty 'crushed' by departure from merged team.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Kyle Petty says he isn't "mad" at the way he's been treated by the new Richard Petty Motorsports, he's "crushed."
Petty, the 48-year-old son of Richard Petty, drove in 15 Sprint Cup races last season but was not part of the new four-driver structure at RPM, a consolidation of the former Gillett Evernham Racing and Petty Enterprises.
