1. He only runs in Sprint Cup. Some drivers feel the need to participate in both major league and minor league racing at the same time simply to make more money.
2. He never runs his mouth about how terrible the car, race track, or other drivers are. Some drivers blame anything and everything when they don't finish well, JJ simply mans up and takes the blame himself
3. He is very consistent. This guy has been in the Top 5 of points 95% of the time during his 6 year Cup career - that's mind boggling. Much of that time is in 2nd or 1st place. JJ rarely doesn't finish a race
4. He has worked his way up to Cup level, rather than getting there simply because of his family.
5. He's a great teammate. I've never heard of JJ forcing his way at Hendrick despite his 2 titles. Guys like Tony Stewart hate it when the team does well without them.
You are right here---except--maybe something you have missed---he may just to be to good!! Sometimes the bad guys are the favorite! It's a shame but it is what it is!

It's really hard to understate how much I hate drivers who run in both Cup and Nationwide Series races. It would be like Bronson Arroyo pitching for the Reds, then driving down to Louisville to pitch against lesser competition just to make a few extra dollars.
To me Truck & Nationwide Series should be a place where up and coming teams with less $$$ can compete against similar competition, rather than compete against major Cup drivers who are loaded with cash.

Actually Darrell Waltrip says that the top 25 in Cup Points should be barred from Nationwide and Truck series races. NASCAR needs to do something to level the field in the minor league series.
I think there should be a cap set at 4 spots for Cup drivers in any given Nationwide race and each driver should be allowed to compete up to 8 times in that series over the course of a season. (Of course, you've got that Gibbs #20 car that will be in all of the races since there are several drivers; Logano, Busch, Stewart, Hamlin, etc.)
Johnson does race in the Nationwide Series occasionally. Since he began racing in the Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup Series full-time, he has also competed 16 times in the Busch/Nationwide Series.
I'm sure nationwide the new series sponsor would be totally hip to the idea that most or all the big names will not be participating on Saturdays anymore.
That is the #1 reason cup regulars will continue to be allowed to race it.
I've ssid it before and I'll say it again---it's all about the money guys!
It's not only "all about the money". There are some (Kyle Bush) who are out to achieve personal goals/status. There are some who drive in the Nat. series for the car owner to gain owner points.
Perhaps there are some that do race in it for the money but come on now, these guys are loaded. Just my .02 cents.

I stand corrected Don....you are 100% right as far as the cup guys needing any extra $$. And to be honest there isn't that much $$ involved in the National races really. I have heard, and I could be wrong, that without the cup guys racing the National series there would not be enough cars to fill all the places. Now, I personally, find that hard to believe as I know there must be so many young guns just waiting for that chance. But it is what I was told?!
