Anyone think Mears got the boot to make a spot for Tony Stewart?

Maybe....but Mears hasn't done much at Hendricks anyhow. My understanding is that Tony isn't going to make any decisions right away. To keep up on the latest about all of this go to: Jayski's® Silly Season Site. I posted this site on another thread here---it will keep you up on all that is going on!!

I doubt it. I think it may have been for Mark Martin. Besides a lineup with Stewart, Earnhardt Jr, Gordon, J. johnson would give Hendrick some headaches.

Any lineup with Tony Stewart is going to be a headache

that would be quite a lineup with stewart, Mears I am afraid is just terribly overrated. I do not even get the rationalization of putting mark martin in the 5 car what a waste of a ride, maybe tony has already turned it down!

I really think Tony will start the Hendrick Light program over at the old Haas shop. Tony driving one car and ??? in the other. Maybe Truex?

Well, it's official. Mark Martin will drive the 5 car full time in 2009. I have no doubts this is a good move for both parties; Martin gets a legitimate ride to make a run for that elusive Cup and Hendrick gets a sponsor-friendly, highly capable, fan favorite driver who can develop the next driver to join the 5 team in a year or two.

I am quite bored with Martin, he signed a 2 year deal with Hendrick any one actually believe he is going to get anywhere near the championship in that car next year! What a waste of a ride, I have to believe that stewart and truex privately turned it down, so hendrick chose martin over keslowski, I would have gone with keslowski!

Hard to say. Martin has a pretty impressive racing resume, in addition to finishing number #2 in the annual championship four times. In 2007, he was leading the "Race to the Chase" before switching to a part-time schedule. Time will tell.

Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup Wins - 35
Top 5's - 241
Top 10's - 390
Poles - 41
IROC Championships - 5
