Personally I am not a Dale Jr. fan----don't dislike him but I have other drivers I follow. I sure wouldn't want to be in Dale Jr.'s position...having to follow in his fathers footsteps. Poor kid, he just wants to race like everyone else. Yes, being his fathers son has helped him with his popularity I think but at the same time has put an extreme amount of pressure on him. It's going to be difficult to follow in his fathers footsteps and that seems to be what so many people expect.
if you aren't a Dale Jr fan, then you must be a Jeff Gordon or Jimmy Johnson fan.
There only are 3 drivers that the media "bow down to" and cover their every word, movement , or action.
I am surprised to watch a NASCAR race and see more than 3 cars on the track, because after reading the "propaganda" from the sports writers all week, I thoight those three were the only ones to race on Sunday.
If he were to stop racing today we would'nt remember anything other than who his father was. That being said he is one of the most popular drivers ever. I would suspect that is a huge amount of pressure to live with wether he admits it or not. So far I beleive he has about 17 wins in Cup or so, mediocre at best. Time will tell if he has what it takes, he certaintly is on one the powerhouse teams now. Personally I've always secretly rooted for him, I think it would make for a great story. He needs to get at least 1 championship to even be mentioned with the greats in my opinion.
Didn't he once say something to the effect that there are hundreds of "Dale Junior's" out there that will never be given the opportunity to be known outside of their local short track? He knows why he's in Cup.

Didn't Jr win a couple of races at the beginning of the season, and isn't he near the top in points now? Go Juan . . . .
1. Jeff Burton
2. Kyle Busch 3. Dale Earnhardt Jr.
4. Jimmie Johnson
5. Kevin Harvick
6. Denny Hamlin
7. Tony Stewart
8. Clint Bowyer
9. Carl Edwards
10. Greg Biffle
11. Kasey Kahne
12. Ryan Newman
Junior hasn't won a Cup points race since May of 2006, but he did win the Budweiser Shootout, and Gatorade Duel races at Daytona in February.
Dale Jr is moire likeable than his father but does not have his fathers skills. Is a good Cup driver but not great. I would put him in with Kenseth,Biffle,Jeff Burton,Stuart etc. etc. good but not great.
The best drivers right now, Jefff Gordon(probably the best all time), Johnson, Edwards, Tony Stuart could be one of the greats if you just count talent but the bad tude keeps him in the good group.
Kyle Bush might make it to the top group if he doesn't kill himself.
