Good win for Happy, but another snooze fest for the fans.
I enjoyed the race.. thought it was one of the better ones i have seen this year.... and I was not pulling for Harvick... I can see how Harvick fans were ecstatic but overall, the racing was good.. IMO.
I took that as more annoyance at the final pit stop.. And.. I think he looks annoyed talking to reporters anytime..

Fair enough, that was pretty bad but he can be very engaging and interesting when he wants. It's too bad he can't channel that more often especially with the press for those 45secs. I know it's that fire that makes him a great driver but other great drivers can back it down to not be a jerk all the time. Ha.

He can be engaging when he's not ticked off. Which generally means when he's in victory lane.
I agree.. That's part of what makes him a good driver.
That is somewhat astounding. Lowe's has been cutting back recently.. After all, they no longer sponsor Charlotte.. With Home Depot leaving a while back, I think they looked at it not a great ROI. Even with arguably the top driver in the sport.
This should be opening some eyes. I doubt they'll have a problem filling inventory on the 48.. But it's still very concerning, or should be.

Sponsorship is an expensive investment. If the sponsoring company is not performing well or if the driver and his or her team is not winning enough, it is logical to end the sponsorship.
The 48 car should not have difficulty finding a new sponsor.

Lowes is performing quite decently so far as their financials.. Certainly not bad.. The driver and team certainly seem to be winning enough.. 7 championships in 12 years? Something like that..
So.. Then it's not logical to end the sponsorship.. Which is the concern.
It means that Lowes has looked at the situation and decided that partnering with the top team over the past 12 years is not a good return on investment.
If THEY are not a good return on investment.. Who is?
Admittedly.. Lowes has been a sponsor for a very long time.. I don't recall who they were with prior to '97, but in '97 they went to Childress and Mike Skinner, then left to go to Hendrick and Johnson in 2002. Ah.. Junior Johnson originally had them in 1995, they stayed with Brett Bodine when he bought the team. I knew they were around before Skinner, but had to look up who they were with. So, they've been around 23 years. If you consider average sponsorship during that timeframe of.. Maybe $18 million (Much cheaper in 95, much more this year most likely) They've spent $324 Million DIRECT on sponsorship. That doesn't include the 'activation' costs.. Which probably means, they've spent half a billion dollars on NASCAR over the past 23 years. Let that number sink in a bit.
I've actually been a little surprised that FedEx has stuck around as long as they have. I figured once UPS left 7 or 8 years ago.. FedEx would be out the door shortly afterwards.
