A little Texas humor: "Please remember F1 is like soccer, arranged marriages and eating dogs. Many Americans aren’t interested, but it’s huge elsewhere."

The whole story:

F1 is only really popular in Europe (especially in the United Kingdom, Finland, Germany, Spain and Italy).

The Turkish GP was a fiasco. I think the Korean GP is going to disappear in a few years, too.

An interesting blog entry:

Circuit of the Americas: F1′s tenth home in the USA

"The Circuit of the Americas will hold the United States Grand Prix for the first time this weekend. Will it be more successful than the nine venues which have gone before?"

Looks like a great track. First sector being a copy of the gorgeous Becketts section from Silverstone. Second sector is two straights, on of them huge, and a couple of hairpins, should facilitate passing. Third sector is a little bit "Mickey Mouse", like Dubai, very slow corners, boring, except for that 4-apex turn borrowed from the Turkey track.

I'm hoping great racing, but we won't know until the cars and there. I got my seats on turn 12, which should see a lot of passing

Actaully its movig from europe more and more because of the cost and tracks can't make money in mnaycase with that. The foreign rces are pretty well finaced and Korea onyl ru that race there;its a lossig thing they just fund to have a GP.That is the problem ;its so expensive that its move to where money ois from many european trqcks that were it home.

The buzz in Austin is huge right now. It is a spectacle like no other here - and this is a city accustomed to 100,000 football fans and huge music events.

I am not going this year - but I hope to next year.

The track looks superb and I think the drivers are excited about it. The uphill stretch to turn 1 is what people are talking about.

Hamilton's post-race quote:

Quote:
There are a couple of Grands Prix that are somehow out on their own: there’s Monaco, Silverstone, Montreal, Spa and Monza. Now you can this circuit to that list - it’s already one of the best racetracks in the world, maybe even right up there in the top three.
