The guy that started it is John Potts. He was the flagman at the first track I ever raced on back in 1980, the Fairgrounds Motor Speedway in Louisville. Now, among other things, he writes a column for Frontstretch.com.
There's also a ton of pictures from the Sportsdrome Speedway, another track I used to race at. My biggest claim to fame there was winning the feature one Saturday night a long time ago, with Frank Kimmel on my rear bumper. Those were definitely some good times.
It also has quite a few vintage pics of FL racing history cause back in the day when it got to cold and snowy to race up North a lot of familiar names like , Ed Howe, Mike Eddy, Butch Miller, Dick Trickle, etc. would come down and race with our very own "King of the FL short tracks", Tricky Dickie Anderson.
Yeah, the other old saying was "Dirt's for racin' - asphalt's for parking lots".
Either way, it's all good
Truth is...I love racing. PERIOD. Each discipline requires it's own special skillset.
