I've always wondered why they don't have odds and do gambling exactas and trifectas and what not. It would definitely increase its popularity.

You can bet on nascar and they do set odds at the sportbooks in Vegas.

But I'm assuming that's only in Vegas you can do that? You can't go to the track and (legally) place wagers like you could at a horse race right?

Google it, I think there are a couple sites, BetUS is one that you can place wagers. This thread reminds me of a weekly Nascar pool we had at work years ago. We put all the drivers names on slips of paper in a box and drew a name, it was 2 bucks to play.

I drew Jeff Gordon, (nice pick) and this was back around the time just after Earnhardt Sr. died. I'll be damned if on the last lap Harvick came around and beat Gordon by inches (still considered one of the closest finishes in Nascar history), for his first win in the #29.............Oh well, I never win.

You can't go to a football game and place a legal bet, either.
