At least it's not as bad as LA.

From the article:
"Austin was too small in 1956 to receive a beltway under the interstate highway system and an anti-freeway movement delayed construction for decades."

It is well known about the anti-freeway movement. But I didn't know about Austin missing out on highway system upgrades because it was to small in 1956.

The traffic is not as bad if you travel from 10 AM to 2 PM. If you are driving past 7 PM there shouldn't be much of a delay.

On the weekends you will most likely experience a delay on 35 no matter what time of the day. I hate how people who are new to Austin speed when they get closer to the riverside exit and don't realize a delay will be ahead and then they end up almost crashing and screeching their brakes while your in the middle lane. Maybe they should change the speed limit for that stretch near downtown and it would be safer for everyone. 35 is starting to become scarier and scarier every day .

I lived in LA for a while. Traffic here isn't even close to being in the same league as traffic there.

Heh, my commute is just about 10 minutes, unless it is the peak of rush hour, then maybe 20 . And I live out in SW Austin.

Austin traffic is bad...at certain times and certain locations. Most of the time, it is not a big deal, at least not to me.

Yeah. And at least it's not as hot and humid here in summer as it is on Venus.

Wow, 4th worst? That's actually a lot worse than I would have guessed. And with the rate of growth in population relative to the rate of construction of new or expanded roads, it's going to get a lot worse. How many decades has it been since the discussion about fixing the I35 mess first began? I've heard of absolutely zero progress. Yeah, they built the toll road to the east and that has had no visible impact whatsoever. Maybe a few less big rigs, which is a very good thing for safety reasons, but no reduction in traffic jams.
