Anybody care to venture a guess about what the upcoming year holds in store for Austin and environs?

It can be crazy, or mundane. I want to revisit this thread in late Dec. 2010 to see how clear our crystal ball turned out to be.

Happy New Year!

Floods in January, March, and July. 3-5 total days over 100 degrees in the summer. We will have snow or ice again this winter.

Crime will go up, rents will come down, housing market will remain stable but flat.

Unemployment rate will decline, but there will be some big name layoffs. Probably AMD and/or Dell.

Texas football team will beat Alabama, then follow it with a 3 loss season.

Texas basketball team will reach the final four, but not the championship game.

ITC will stop posting then come back with a new handle.

Red Line will not run -- possibly scandal will be revealed, and people fired. Hopefully.

Three to five days over 100 this summer? I'll definitely take the over.

No Red Line in 2010, I'll second that.

UT and city government will layoff.

I can't jinx the Longhorns with any predictions!

I have a few, but they seem to be longshots:

- I think they will bring back the free 'Dillo downtown in some form.
-The Statesman will stop publishing.
-KGSR will be brought back in some form due to public outcry.
-The rates at Barton Springs will raise do to soaring popularity.
-CapMetro outsources from either DART (Dallas) or METRO (Houston) to manage/run maintain the commuter rail.
- ABIA announces expansion.
- UT freezes enrollment again.

The predictions that I think would realllllly be longshots:

- Cap Metro announces a new light rail down the middle of S. Congress as part of their future expansion.
- a planned building (slightly) taller than the Austonian will be announced much to the disbelief of the citizenry.

ITC- I'm fascinated by you. Maybe you can provide a "anonymous" bio (who, what, where, profession)?

Still no light rail.

Why did they mess up the Trail of Lights but we're still having a 'First Night'....to which no one I know goes??? Does anyone go?

Maybe we can combine the both...and call it the "rail of lights".....
could we just hi-jack the zilker park kiddie choo-choo train, and run it down S. Congress?....would give light rail a new meaning.....

"Charlie says, love my Austin light rail....Charlie says, really rings a bell....cause good and plenty light rail is good enough for me."
