I think we are going to have to break down and replace our fence - well at least the back fence. It is currently your typical subdivision wood, but we would like to replace the back fence with an iron or metal fence to take adantage of being on a greenbelt.

Any recommendations?

Ask how much concrete they use per post. If it's less, request they use a full 80lbs bag of concrete per post hole. It's a bit of overkill but cheap since it is just $3 a bag.

I built 250' of picket fence myself several years ago for $1500 in materials. A neighbor down the street paid $7000 for his to be built by one of the major fence companies. Mine is as straight as the day I built it. His is already getting wavy due to posts leaning.

Has anyone had a good/bad experience with Allied Fence Company? I'm thinking of using them (good ratings and their quote was very reasonable), but would also appreciate any other suggestions. You can DM me if it's inappropriate to post on this thread. Thanks!

Allied Fence Contractors Austin

Allied Fence Company gave me the lowest bid on our fence and did good work. My bid was for steel posts with wood pickets, but they also do ornamental metal fences. They included 3 treated wood rails in their bid, where most others only did 2 and were still the best price.

Wow, is that how much it typically runs to replace your fence??

It's pretty expensive. I told my husband that I though it was going to be about $7000 to replace just the back fence with a metal one. And we're not going with anything custom or fancy - just a standard metal (wrought iron) fence. Our fence line back there is pretty long, though.

our pool fence was about 80ft and it was $1500 for fabrication and installation as a point of reference.
