Thanks everyone!
I'll be working in Heritage Hills but really don't want to live that far out. I want to be in an area with more going on culturally, shops, music, food, etc.
I will have a car and would prefer living in a nicer neighborhood thats walkable and only driving to work.
Walkscore is definitely helpful

These are in Central Austin. You won't find any many walkable neighborhoods in North Austin.
The Domain condos/apartments (not sure which?) might be considered walkable, especially once the construction is done and the Whole Foods comes in. Bike-able, maybe.

Okay, looking at where you'll be working, I'd say that we're actually pretty much on track. The Domain is further out than you say you want, but it might actually do the trick. Crestview and the Far West/Mopac area would also do it without too much of a drive. If you really want to be closer in, you could try the Triangle, though I don't know for sure if it would have anything in your price range. Mueller is a possibility, as well - if you're on a regular daily schedule, you might be doing a reverse commute from either of those last.
