My wife and I are thinking of moving to Round Rock due to job possibilities in Austin. Since we have a four-year old daughter, schools are important to us. I'd very much welcome anyone's opinions on the schools in Round Rock.

Cactus Ranch is highly rated, they rezone the schools here so quickly with the growth, I would really look into that when you choose.

We are in Great Oaks elementary, and I can't say enough great things about it. Our middle school is Cedar Valley and the high school is McNeil. Traditionally Westwood is considered the "best" high school in Round Rock, but I know people who work in McNeil and one of my babysitters goes to McNeil, and I have heard nothing but great things about it.

Caraway and Laurel Mountain are both exemplary schools with lots of parental involvement and a neighborhood feel. These are in the city of Austin, but in the Round Rock ISD. Neighborhoods to shop in would be parts of Great Hills, Oak Forest, and surrounding areas.
