Anyone have any info on Shady Hollow Estates? There are few houses that look interesting but I never drove through there when I was in town. I looked at the houses with Google Streetview and it looked like things were spread out... not sure if it's the kind of hood where there's a bunch of kids running around? Also, any info on the HOA? Strict or not?

Thanks!

The HOA is not too strict. The lots are huge. There are lots of kids. I know my neighbors just moved there and they have a 5 and 7 yr old. Their new neighbors have kids in the same little league.

Also some of my Bunco ladies live there, and they all have young teenagers. Over all the Shady Hollow area (like many other areas) is just so friendly and laid back. I know all of my neighbors and tons of Moms from the neighborhood parks. Also if you have small kids, most of the parents at your daycare are going to live close by - we have birthday parties at least twice a month. It is a great place to raise a family!

Shady Hollow is a 'mature' neighborhood, meaning that it has been there for a long time and there is probably a pretty much normalized distribution of ages and kids - some youngsters, some teenagers, some empty nester's, and some retiree age.

A 'young' neighborhood, imo, is like the new areas of Circle C or VAWO, where lots of families have moved there during the last ten years. These tend to be weighted more to the young families.

I did visit Shady Hollow last summer -- not the Estates part though. I looked at a couple of houses on Squirrel Hollow (great name) and Shady Hollow Drives. It did seem to be very quiet and not much action. Over by the pool at Capistrano Park, I did see some young kids riding bikes and playing on the sidewalk. Seems like the young families were concentrated over in that section.

I don't know why I didn't see the other southern parts of SH. Guess there were no interesting houses on the market then.

Default Check out Brodie Springs

On Brodie right near Shady Hollow. I received data yesterday. Shady Hollow has some of the lowest supply of resale inventory at 2 months.

Brodie Springs is new construction. Large homesites, tons of trees.

You will most likely find homes that have bee remodeled/updated there as it is a older neighborhood. The lots are big with mature trees...I wanted a home in there when we moved here 5 yrs ago, but sadly it was a sellers market then and I looked at houses and by the end of the day someone already had made offers.... I only had 3 days to find a house, so I could not play that game!!
Good schools, good location to area amenities ie: shopping, food, churches etc...

Everynow and then I check craigs list for listings there just to see whats happening.
Another neighborhood I liked was Castlewood Forest. Ask about that one too! Similar homes, lots etc...
