Hello all!
I'm in the relocation process. As jobs are slow to come by in my field, I may have to wait upwards of 12-18 months for a position to open and be hired. In the interim, I'll probably have to go the temp agency route.

Can anyone recommend a good place to start?
Thanks!

Austin has branches of most of the major temp agencies like Kelly, Manpower, Robert Half, etc. Some agencies are general and other specialize in certain fields -for example Accountemps is for the financial industry and there are others for manufacturing, IT, healthcare, etc. Do you have a particular industry in mind?

Sorry if this is a bit vague but Austin is KING of the temp jobs. You can't take a few steps in any direction here without tripping over a temp agency. Be very careful. A lot of employers in Austin have gotten into a bad habit of crutching on temp agencies to fill a 6 to 12 month work quota with no intention of hiring for a perm position.

Many of my friends and coworkers have been through countless temp jobs in the last 2 years. It looks horrible on your resume and can really work on you mentally.

Thanks all...

It's really for an in-between-jobs job. My field is very specific and there may only be 30-50 positions in the whole area for what I do. Could be a long waiting period for one to open up. To fill the gap, I'd consider temping...but we'll see.

Thanks!
