I previously posted on this forum about a website that I am developing that will be a portal/directory for Round Rock, Pflugerville, CedarPark/Leander, Georgetown ---

The site will include information for each city (governement, utilities, etc) as well as:
1. Business Directory for each town (ability to rate and review the listings)
2. School Diretory
3. Eventslist
4. Groups (ability to build a group to meet people with similar interest)
5. Realestate - New and Resale

There are many other features that we are working on but I wanted to see if there are any needs that you as residents of these towns need. What would help you? What would you like to see on the site?

Thank you!

List of all the local parks.

List of all the places that kids eat free and what nights.

List of local family doctors and pediatricians.

Default done

thanks for the reply...these will be added!

We are hoping to get some really good involvement with local restaurants for weekly coupons, etc -- the kids eat free is a great idea and we will add this for sure.

For doctors, etc we are going to break the directories down by town. So under pflugerville you probably will not have someone say in the Urology or OBGYN fields, but hopefully with the growth this will change.

The directory for each city will only have businesses, doctors, lawyers that are actually in that town. -- On the other hand businesses like AC repair will be listed in whichever town they service. Basically we are trying to keep say a burger joint in Cedar Park from being listed in Pville....That is just too far and a hassle to look through all the listings to find one close. It is easy enough to check Round Rock's listing if you are in Pville.

Thanks again and please keep the request flowing...we are trying to be a USEFULL site.

I would like to say that there is a paper that comes out in the mail with info about all of those towns, but not excluding Taylor and Hutto. Although I know they aren't on the radar and there's really not much here to put on a site, people in those towns may like something listed on there as well at some point because the burbs don't stop at Round Rock anymore. and things are growing out this way more nowadays.

Default more cities

Love Roses - We are building the site so additional cities can be added in seamlessly. Once we finish 1 town's info we will move to the next. Hutto, Taylor, etc are definitely on the radar. We are actually hoping to have a North and South section in the future to encompass (buda, kyle, etc)

We hope to have a site that will assist residents, visitors, and business owners.

A few other additions will be local weather and gas prices.

Thanks for the input, please keep the ideas coming!!

List the service providers for Cedar Park.
We are moving there and want to know our phone and cable choices, if any.

When are you hoping to have the site up and running?

Default Good Question.

The site foundation is pretty much complete -- we are now building the categories for the directory and building the layouts for each section.

I am hoping that the site will launch within a month but the content will be limited.

Our next step is to populate all all the city info, school info, etc. There are options that would allow us to populate the directory through something like yahoo, but the problem is there are listings for business under towns the are not in. We want a clean and easy to use directory.

We will probably start with Round Rock or Pflugerville and then just move to the next city. Each city will be treated as its own minisite.

That sounds like such a great idea. I know when people move to the area and join our moms group, they ask lots of questions about the schools, Doctors and Pediatricians, local parks, Day Care and Preschool and babysitters. So, once you get the site up and running, we can direct them there to help them out. We have moms from all over in this group...North Austin, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Georgetown, Taylor
