Hi,

We are moving in february to Austin and we are planning to live in Westlake Hills. Is there a DayCare or preferable a Preschool that someone can recomend me? We have an 18mth old girl and we want something with a complete program, not just a day care in which they just take care of them but there's no activity program.

Do you know if schools are open from the 4th to the 7th of January, cause maybe I can make an appointment in the recommended one's and visit them.

Thanks,

The Westlake zip code is 78746, I would look at the NAEYC web-site for accredited programs to start.

The quintessential Westlake daycare/preschool would be Child's Day.

Yes, if you want daycare in Westlake, Child's Day comes to mind. Eanes ISD also offers a full day CDC program at 3 of its elementary school campuses, serving infants through age 5.

If you want preschool, most of the programs are 1/2 day and are sponsored by churches in the Westlake area. There are several good ones: Butterfly Christian, Westlake Presbyterian, Riverbend CDC, or United Methodist at Red Bud near Bee Cave Rd.

There are often waitlists for many of these, so probaby worth calling first to find out if you can put your name on a list.

Are you looking for a full-time or part-time program?

Eanes ISD program is really good, but you'll never get in. If part-time is OK, I would check out Westlake Presbyterian or Riverbend Christian School.

Regardless of where you want to go, you will face waiting lists! 18 months is a particular tough age to find care as the ratios are still vary high. You should aim to get on as many wait lists as you can, hopefully you will get lucky.

Along with the others, there's Children's Center of Austin on Bee Caves Rd, about a mile West of 360. When we were at Primrose, many Westlake people came to Bee Cave to drop off their kids. Not sure I would do the reverse drive, but many did.
