The two are not mutually exclusive, you know. Distracted driving (something other than the roadway that requires you to look at it while you're driving) and speeding are both dangerous and both contribute to accidents, both fatal and otherwise (speeding just increases dramatically the likelihood that an accident will be fatal). Combine the two and you've got a double whammy - 31% of fatal accidents in 2012 involved speeding, 16% involved distracted driving. Granted, there's more than likely some cross-over between those two figures - someone who is speeding and is looking at their device rather than the road to make sure that they don't suffer the legal consequences of their chosen behavior would combine the two, for example - but likely all of the distracted drivers weren't speeding.

As for "facing me, on a clip, just like hundreds of GPS's on the road around you every day", those are dangerous. The ones that give you directions out loud, like every single one that I have seen has the capability of doing if the driver is willing to use that feature (and everyone I know does), don't require you to remove your eyes from the roadway - and the faster you're going, the more important that is.
