Good Morning,
I need some advice. My family and I are thinking of moving to Hutto by the summer. I have two children in Middle school and one going to fifth grade. I've come to realize two things; Hutto only has two middle schools and the fifth graders attend these campuses as well.

I've heard that Farley Middle was better than Hutto Middle, but I see a few homes that I do like that would put my children at Hutto Middle. I basically want to know, most importantly, which school offers better academics? Which school has better band program? Which school has better football program?

For me my children's education is very important so I would choose a house based on what school I want them at.

Also as a side question, I read in previous forums that the water in Hutto had an increase in rate. Could you tell me how that rate increase has affected residents? I know that some subdivisions in Pflugerville had a rate increase recently were some people were paying $300/mo for water alone. I hope that Hutto would not be that way.

Thanks so much for any help.

I live in Hutto..
and my daughter goes to Hutto Middle. I used to not be a fan of Hutto Middle but I think the new principal has done a great job. I love my daughter's teacher this year too (my daughter is in 5th). They are really hitting the academics hard this year and any student who gets below a 70 in L.A, math or science has to go to a tutoring class for 3/4 weeks. Yes, mine did have to go for math. I'd have to ask friends about Farley, but Hutto middle has good teams. I believe the Girl's volleyball team has been really good this year.

Water rates...Hutto has the highest around, so needless to say, we try not to be too liberal with it.

Thanks so much for your reply love roses. That really helps alot. I'm just really worried about having to switch my kids schools especially since they are doing so well where they are.

Also to riaelise, Pflugerville will be meeting with Southwest water company again within the next few months to finally come to closure on the water increase. I do know that the full increase has not happened yet but many people have already started selling their homes (my family included) because Southwest water had already increased rates before the City got involved; we also sold for other reasons. I have neighbors who's water was costing them $300-$400 a month (bigger houses than mine). My water was almost $200 a month with potential increase from there in a 1200sqft home. We basically don't want to take any chances. I have sold my home and am now house hunting while living with relatives. #2
